Manchester City sealed their place in the finals of UEFA Champions League with a thumping 4-0 victory over the reigning champions, Real Madrid. They will now face Inter Milan in the final on 11th of June at Atatürk Olympic Stadium in Istanbul, Turkey.
Pure Dominance From Manchester City
Right from the beginning of the game, Manchester City absolutely dominated Real as they took the lead in the 23rd minute of the game from a superb near post finish from Bernardo Silva. That really set the tone of the game as Manchester City didn’t even allow Real Madrid to have a single shot on their goal in the first 35 minutes of the game, with Madrid’s first shot on goal coming in the 36th minute from a wonderful strike from Toni Kroos (hit the crossbar). However, right after that Manchester City doubled their lead with a second goal of the game from Bernardo Silva.
In the second half, Real Madrid began extremely well and tried to take the game to Manchester City but they weren’t good enough in the final third to trouble Man City’s goalkeeper as Walker was extremely good to nullify the threat of Madrid’s danger man “Vinicius Jr”. Manchester City weathered the little storm that Madrid tried to create, but that soon came to a crashing end as Akanji scored the third for City after the ball was deflected by Eder Militao into Madrid’s goal. The fourth goal came in the first minute of the stoppages after a wonderful pass from Phil Foden was met with an equally wonderful finish from Julian Alvarez. The game ended 4-0 and a thumping 5-1 scoreline on aggregate over the two legs in the favour of Manchester City.
A Final Worth The Watch?
Now, Manchester will be facing Inter Milan in the final since Inter cruised to a 3-0 aggregate win over AC Milan. The final will surely be a treat to watch as Inter Milan will be looking to win the Champions League after 13 years and Manchester City will be looking to get their hands on the UEFA Champions League trophy for the first time ever in their history. Manchester City will also be eying their focus towards the all-elusive treble as they are just 3 points away from securing Premier League, one step away from winning the FA Cup (final against Manchester United on 3rd June) and are now one step away from winning the UCL final (against Inter Milan on 11th June).
