Ferrari has revealed their new SF-23 car for the 2023 Formula 1 season, and the Italian team has set their sights on bringing the championship trophy back to Maranello. The SF-23 was launched with a live demo run at Ferrari’s Fiorano track, and the team has expressed confidence in their new car’s ability to compete at the highest level.
Ferrari’s senior management brought in Fred Vasseur to bring championship glory back to the team. Vasseur has only been on the job for a few weeks, but he is already convinced that the SF-23 has all the necessary ingredients to achieve its lofty targets.
Ferrari’s new SF-23 car looks promising with many improvements, including a new nose, front wing, front suspension, and significant changes under the hood. Charles Leclerc tested the car first and provided positive feedback on its performance. Not only is the SF-23 faster than its predecessor, but it is also much more reliable, addressing last season’s reliability issues.

Last season, Ferrari had to reduce the engine’s power output for nearly two-thirds of the season while they focused on strengthening the power unit. This work has been completed successfully, and the team believes that they now have a more robust power unit that can run at maximum power, potentially resulting in a lap time improvement of 0.2-0.3 seconds per lap.
If the engine upgrades and aero tweaks deliver the expected performance benefits, the SF-23 could win the season’s first race. However, Ferrari’s challenge will be maintaining the car’s reliability while delivering consistent developments throughout the season.
In terms of the driver lineup, Ferrari has two strong drivers in Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz. Leclerc had ten pole positions last season, and Sainz won his first race at Silverstone while finishing on the podium eight other times. If both drivers perform to their potential, Ferrari could be a contender for the constructors’ championship, and either Sainz or Leclerc or even both, could be in the running for the driver’s championship, something Ferrari has not won since 2007.

Overall, the SF-23 looks to be a significant step forward for Ferrari, and there’s a real chance that it could bring the title back to Maranello. However, as with any sport, there are no guarantees, and only time will tell if the car and drivers can deliver on their potential.
