For many years, Indian football team have struggle to get up in the FIFA World Rankings and as of March 2015, they were ranked at 173, the lowest ever rating. But in the past few years, with the introduction of the leagues like HERO Indian Super League, an abundance of football players have risen to the surface,which in turn have made Indian football see a great turn around in its fortune. In the past few years, India have gained quite some places and are currently ranked at 109 in FIFA Rankings.

In past couple of years, Sunil Chettri has proved to an pivotal point in the rise of Indian Football and day-by-day, he is getting closer and closer to breaking the record of goal scored for their nation. So, all in all, in several different ways Sunil Chettri has been the golden boy for Indian football since his contributions for the game are just spectacular.
