It was a battle between Ferrari and Red Bull, with Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc going head to head for pole position. And what a qualifying session it was! It was a battle of wits and skill as the drivers pushed their cars to the limit. The tension was high as Verstappen and Leclerc posted identical lap times in their first Q3 runs. It was a thrilling sight to behold as they traded blows, each trying to gain the upper hand.

But it was Leclerc who ultimately emerged victorious, claiming his third consecutive pole position at the Baku City Circuit. It was a moment of pure joy for the Ferrari team, as they celebrated their hard-earned victory. The roar of the crowd was deafening as Leclerc basked in the glory of his triumph.

The Red Bull team put up a good fight, with Verstappen settling for second place and Sergio Perez securing third. Carlos Sainz was the best of the rest, taking fourth place, some eight tenths off the pace of his Ferrari teammate. It was a mixed bag for the Mercedes team, with Lewis Hamilton securing fifth place, but his teammate George Russell failing to make it past the qualifying rounds. It was a disappointment for Russell, who had high hopes for the race.

Lando Norris and Yuki Tsunoda put in impressive performances, securing seventh and eighth place respectively. Lance Stroll and Oscar Piastri rounded out the top ten positions. But the qualifying session was not without its fair share of drama. Pierre Gasly and Nyck de Vries crashed out separately at Turn 3 in the opening phase, bringing out the red flags and interrupting the action.

Despite the setbacks, the excitement is far from over. Azerbaijan is set to host the first F1 Sprint of the season on Saturday, with the new Sprint Shootout set to begin at 1230 local time (2pm IST), followed by the 100-kilometre Sprint race at 1730 (7pm IST). Fans are eagerly anticipating the next phase of the race, as the drivers gear up for another battle of wits and skill.
